A proud Javanese, a crazy birder, and a nerd overall.
I am a birder based in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. I started birding in high school, have been addicted ever since, and decided to live my life around it. I studied biology for my bachelor’s degree and have been working on several projects related to ornithology, bioacoustics, avitourism, citizen science, and conservation. I am also an active member of the IUCN Asian Songbird Trade Specialist Group, an eBird reviewer for Indonesia, and have co-authored two bird books, some scientific papers, and some species pages in Birds of the World.
Other than birding, my other hobbies revolve around cooking, travelling, and riding a motorcycle. I also love to learn new languages, non-Latin scripts (either traditional or fictional, like Tengwar), history and palaeontology. I am also very proud of my heritage as a Javanese and have a deep love for my base city of Yogyakarta, which I will always call my home no matter where I live in the world.
This blog was created to share my passion for birds and express my thoughts about everything in the world. Here, I will write about birding guides, trip reports, equipment reviews, identification and taxonomy guides, and general opinions and thoughts. So please join me on my weird journey through the world from the perspective of a Crazy Bird Guy!
